Understanding Google Slides Animations and Transitions

Transitions occur when you move from one slide to another during a presentation. Google Slides contains transitions that dissolve, fade, slide, flip, include a cube, and bounce in a gallery.

Animations highlight text and images on a slide. Animations help with eye movement by indicating where your audience should be looking during a presentation. Google Slides contains animations that appear, disappear, disappear, fly, scale, and rotate.

You can even take your presentation design even further by collaborating with others or adding audio to your Google Slides presentation because Google Slides is a full-featured presentation web application.

Play around with different transitions and animations and choose the ones that match the tone of your presentation.

Less is more when using transitions and animations in Google Slides. You want your audience to be captivated by your cool graphic moves, but you don’t want them to be distracted by constantly moving presentations. Limit the use of transitions and animations to keep the audience focused on you and the topic of your presentation.

Here are some more recommendations:

  • Do not overdo it : Think about your audience, the purpose of your presentation, and the image you want to project. Then choose your transitions and animations wisely.
  • Avoid twisting and bouncing slides : Choose subtle animations and transitions that fade and dissolve. Complex movements can be distracting.
  • Automate your animation as much as possible : Set the animation to automatically start on or after the previous animation. If you are focused on launching the next animation, you are not focused on your audience.
  • Use animation to focus your audience . Create an animation to help your audience focus on the content of your presentation. Use animation to highlight important points, ideas, and concepts.

How to Create Google Slides Transitions

In a Google Slides presentation using the default transition slides, the slides simply appear and disappear as you move through the slideshow. Give your presentation some visual interest by changing the transition.

You have the option to use the same transition on all slides, or use a different transition on each slide. In most cases, a single slide transition in a presentation works best.

  1. Go to slide and select Edit Transition .
