If you set a timer on your Amazon Echo and leave the room, you may not hear the timer go off. The good news is that you can receive push notifications on your phone when the timer is on, no matter where you are.

Unfortunately, this is not a built-in Echo feature. You will need to use the If This Then That (IFTTT) online service, which you can connect to your Amazon Echo to do all sorts of interesting things.
If you haven’t used IFTTT before, check out our getting started guide for information on how to create an account and connect apps and services. Then come back here to create the required applet. Start by going to the IFTTT homepage and clicking «My Applets» at the top of the page.
Then click «New Applet».
Click «This» highlighted in blue.
Type «Alexa» in the search box or scroll down and find it in the list of products and services below. Click on it when you find it.
Go through the process of connecting Alexa to IFTTT if you haven’t already. After that, you will select a trigger. In this case, you’ll want to click «Your timer will turn off.»
Then click «This» highlighted in blue.
Type «Notifications» in the search box, or scroll down and find it in the list of products and services below. Click on it when you find it.
On the next screen, click Send Notification. Remember that you must have the IFTTT app (available on iOS and Android) installed on your phone with notifications enabled.
By default, your notification will say «The timer you created at XX:XX turned off at XX:XX». However, you can customize this to say whatever you want. I like to go with a simple «Your echo timer has turned off!». When you’re done with that, click Create Action.
On the next screen, click Finish.
At this point, you’re all set, and whenever you start the timer on your Amazon Echo, you’ll get a push notification to your phone from IFTTT telling you that the timer has reached zero.
There is a delay of approximately five seconds from the time your echo timer goes off to the time you receive the push notification, so if urgency is important to you, you should keep this in mind. Otherwise, it’s a great way to have your Echo’s timer follow you around the house, so you’ll know when the time is up even if you’re not within earshot.
