Every time you turn on the Gear VR, a set of security warnings will appear on the screen. While they are handy for educating new users about safety issues when using VR, if you use a VR headset regularly, they can become a problem. Luckily, disabling most security warnings is a fairly easy option in the settings. We have details on how to disable these settings.
How to turn off security warnings?
Safety alerts on the Gear VR pop up every time you turn on the headset, and while they might be helpful at first glance, not everyone wants that reminder to waste time between them and that sweet new VR game they’ve been waiting for. That’s why Oculus has allowed you to disable these warnings, with a few caveats.
It’s not something you turn off when you use the Gear VR headset. Rather, you need to open the Oculus app on your phone. Then click the «more» icon in the lower right corner of the screen. It will look like three vertical lines. After that, scroll down and tap on Gear VR Safety. The next page will open a switch that will allow you to disable these warnings.
To disable them for the first time, you will need to watch a short video with five different security tips. You can then toss the toggle, confirming that you will still see the occasional security reminder.
Step by step instructions
- Open the app Oculus .
- Press more in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Press Gear VR Safety
- Click play on the security video and watch it.
- Click confirm after the video.
- Tap the switch to turn on the Gear VR safety reminders.
