3. Origami Decorations

This fun design is made from just two pieces of paper and ends with an incredibly professional looking decoration that you can hang from your tree. This design by Instructables user sebnibo is made from paper, and there’s nothing stopping you from using any paper you’d otherwise throw away.

Just make sure it’s not too brittle or you might end up with some pretty weak stars!

4. Cork wreath

This is a great economical project requiring only a finished ring and glue. For an extra splash of color, you can color the corks first, or bribe younger family members to do it for you with cookies. The choice is yours.

These vintage-inspired decorations are made from Styrofoam and painted with simple hobby paint — though a similar effect can be achieved by painting on cardboard to make this project truly reworked.

The real kicker in this project is the extra use of top coat on the trinkets to make them shine.

9. Christmas Tree Topper Mario Star

Christmas is a great time to enjoy the important people in your life like Mario. This DIY Mario Star toy is easy to make and will give the top of your tree that invincible feel it deserves!

This crafty project is the brainchild of Instructables user scoochmaroo and works great with simple materials. You can easily swap vinyl for scrap and you’ll find that you have everything you need to get it done around the house.

It’s worth adding a 100-300 ohm resistor to your LED circuit if you want your LED to last more than a day or so!

10. Mario Coin Box Goody

Keeping with the Mario theme, our latest project is the ubiquitous box of coins from the Mario series.

The box design templates can be found in the video description and the finished boxes are really impressive. This project uses styrofoam, but if you don’t have one on hand, you can use a card from shipping boxes for the same effect.

The finished product in this video has a slot at the top for placing items in boxes.

A great alternative would be to hide delicious edible goodies inside boxes and hang them on a tree for your family and guests to crack open and eat. Tiny Mario, a box of pinatas? Yes please!
