Since the release of Windows Phone 8, people rightfully want Skype. And now they got it, albeit in a pre-release, which in our folk translation is read as «beta», and this is a beta version.
We’ve previously given some advice to people who had battery problems, and now we can fully confirm one of them: Skype. No, it doesn’t actually happen often, as this is the first time we’ve encountered this issue since Skype hit the Store a few weeks ago.
The problem arose when we were updating some contact details and then forced to sync our Microsoft account in Settings (while holding it, press Sync). The only problem was that she wouldn’t stop… ever.
Of course, we have central office Windows phone there are many phones, many of which are tied to the same MS account, and none of them, even when forced to sync, have had the same problem. We tried turning off data (Airplane mode) or toggling Wi-Fi to no avail — as soon as the data came back, infinite sync was also back.
A soft reset with a combo of the above did nothing either. We just deleted our Microsoft account and would try again, but alas, you can’t delete the main account on the phone and you can’t unsync. We were considering a hard reset at this point, and with the WP8 app and the settings backup (which synced well) we weren’t too upset with the idea, though obviously we shouldn’t have been.
You are the son…
