Your iPhone has a flashlight, but why would you need to take it out of your pocket? Your Apple Watch can do something very similar. Here’s how to use it when you need to get through a dark room.

Unfortunately, the Apple Watch doesn’t have an LED flash like the iPhone, so it instead relies on a small screen to provide enough light to see your way through a black room or hallway. It’s not as bright, but at least it keeps you from catching your iPhone out of your pocket every time.
To get started, wake up your Apple Watch by tapping the screen or raising your wrist. When the screen turns on, swipe up from the bottom to open the Control Center. Then press the flashlight button.
The screen will turn completely white. It will be dim at first, but tapping it will turn it on to full brightness and give you more light to see in the dark.
You can choose from three «flashlights»: white, flashing white and red. Red is great for when you need to see in the dark but don’t want your eyes to fully adapt to bright light. And flashing white can be used as a beacon of sorts, drawing someone’s attention. Or, if you’re running at night, you can warn drivers to see you. All you have to do is swipe left or right to select one.
