Hotspots offer a more convenient opportunity than modem when the data connection is being shared to one computer via a USB cable or Bluetooth—there may be using software such as PdaNet . Similar to iPhone can be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot many smartphones and tablets on Android based offer similar features. With Wi-Fi hotspot, your mobile data connection on your Android device can be shared with up to five other wireless devices, including other cell phones, tablets, and computers. Wi-Fi sharing is built into most Android devices.
The instructions in this article are for «stock» Android on the Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S9. The interfaces and processes of other devices may differ depending on who made them: LG, HTC, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.
Enable the portable Wi-Fi hotspot feature on your Samsung smartphone
If you are not restricted to use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature on your Android device, enable it.
Be careful when using your smartphone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and when exchanging your password. The data processed by this Wi-Fi feature uses monthly mobile data usage.
To turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot:
Go to settings your Samsung phone. On the main screen click button menu then click » Settings» .
On the screen settings select » Wireless networks» . On a Samsung phone, press » Connections» then click » Mobile hotspot and modem» .
Turn on toggle switch Mobile Hotspot . The phone becomes a wireless access point and displays a message in the notification bar when activated.
To find the password and instructions for the hotspot, click » Mobile access point» . Use this password to connect your other devices to the hotspot.
To change the default password, click » Password» and enter a new password.
Connect other devices to the hotspot to access the Internet.
Turn on the portable Wi-Fi hotspot feature on your Pixel or Stock Android smartphone
If you are not prohibited from using the Wi-Fi hotspot feature on your Android device, enable it:
Run Appendix » Settings» then click » Network and Internet» .
Click Dot access and modem then press WiFi hotspot.
Turn on toggle switch WiFi .
If desired, you can change the access point name, password, and other advanced settings such as auto disconnect and AP range.

Once the hotspot is activated, connect other devices to it as if it were any other Wi-Fi router:
On each device with which you want to share Internet access, find a Wi-Fi hotspot. Your computer, tablet, or other smartphones may notify you when new wireless networks are available.
To find wireless networks, use your Android phone and select «Settings» > » Wireless networks» > » WiFi Settings» . Then follow general instructions on WiFi connection for most computers.
Establish a connection by entering the password for the Wi-Fi hotspot.
Enable Wi-Fi Hotspot for free on carrier-restricted plans
The default procedure for Android’s universal Wi-Fi hotspot feature works if you have a device that supports hotspots and a data plan to pair with it. However, once connected, you won’t be able to access the internet on your laptop or tablet because some wireless carriers restrict access to the Wi-Fi hotspot to only those who pay for the feature.
Another way to use your Android as a hotspot is an android widget app such as Elixir 2 which turns the Wi-Fi hotspot on or off on the home screen. This allows you to access the hotspot feature directly and at no additional cost to your wireless service provider. If Elixir 2 doesn’t work, the free app foxfi does the same.
