You may have recently switched browsers or want to clean up unused apps and remove clutter. Regardless of your reason, here is how to uninstall Chrome on Mac.

The instructions in this article apply to macOS Catalina 10.15, macOS Mojave 10.14, macOS High Sierra 10.13, macOS Sierra 10.12 and later.

How to uninstall Google Chrome on Mac

  1. Before uninstalling Chrome, you need to make sure that the browser is not running. If the program is in the Dock, right-click Chrome and select » Go out» .

  2. Open Finder and click folder » Applications ”, which can be displayed in the Favorites bar on the left side of the Finder window. Otherwise, open menu » File» at the top of the screen, click » Find» and then search for » Google Chrome «.

  3. To remove a browser, drag icon Google Chrome on icon baskets in Dock. Alternatively, right-click on the icon, then select » Move to cart» .

  4. If the app is still running when you try to uninstall it, a Force Quit Apps window will open. Make sure Google Chrome is highlighted, then click » Force Quit» .

  5. To uninstall Chrome from Mac, right click icon baskets in the Dock, then click » Empty trash» .

Deleting Google Chrome Profile Information

Chrome stores your profile information, bookmarks, and browsing history on your Mac. This data may be useful if you intend to install Chrome in the future. However, if you need fresh installation of Chrome or you want to delete all its remnants, you also need to delete this data.

  1. Open Finder and, using the menu at the top of the screen, select » Go» > » Go to folder» .

    The data generated by Google Chrome is stored in this folder. Depending on your usage, this folder can be quite large. Once deleted, the data is permanently deleted, so before continuing make sure you have created backups all necessary files.

  3. Select all folders in Library / Application Support / Google / Chrome and move them to basket . To do this, right-click on the selected folders, then click » Move to cart» or drag them to icon baskets in Dock.
