Are you a hardcore Mac and iOS user who knows the ins and outs of working with both? We want you to write for us.
What are we looking for
We are looking for an experienced writer who can write articles ranging from simple instructions to more complex explanations and thematic stories. You should have obvious writing experience and access to a Mac and iPhone (an iPad is also a plus) that can run the latest versions of macOS and iOS. You should also be comfortable researching and writing stories, even if you don’t have direct experience with the topic.
You must be able to explain these topics simply and effectively. Our goal is to make the technology easy to understand, and the ideal candidate should be able to do just that for Mac and iOS themes. Excellent communication and the ability to make complex topics easy to understand are crucial.
Here are some examples of good instructions we’ve done in the past:
How to control when macOS updates are installed
How to speed up your old, slow iPhone or iPad
How to Transfer Your Data from Old iPhone to New
And some great feature articles we’ve done:
Mac OS X is no longer secure: the Crapware/Malware epidemic has begun
Don’t be fooled: The Mac App Store is full of scammers
What is a Time-Flight (ToF) camera and why does my phone have one?
This is a freelance position where you will be assigned topics to write, but we also encourage you to suggest topics that we haven’t covered yet. This is also strictly remote work. We don’t have normal business hours or even an office, so you can be anywhere.
To apply for this job, you must meet the following criteria:
Be able to explain complex topics in a clear and easy to understand way, even for non-experts.
Be able to generate article ideas, accept suggestions, and make topics interesting and exciting.
Be at least 18 years old and have your own computer.
Have solid English writing skills (and be prepared to write in American English).
There are some basic screenshots and image editing. HTML skills are a plus.
