How to Create and Manage Twitter Lists

The sheer number of people and topics that populate the Twitterverse can be overwhelming at times. Listings in Twitter is a great way for users to stay organized and focused amid the chaos. Twitter lists are curated groups Twitter accounts, which users can group by topic, people, or whatever they like. Create your own Twitter lists or subscribe to Twitter lists created by others. No matter how many people you follow, Twitter lists will help you stay sane and organized.

About Twitter Lists

How you organize your Twitter lists is up to you. For example, create a list of your close friends, and when you select a name for that list, you’ll see a graph of messages from everyone on that list. If you are a web designer, you can create separate listings for online startups, HTML5 coding, and interactivity.

Lists can be public or private. You can make the list public to help other Twitter users find interesting topics to follow. Personal lists, on the other hand, are simply a way for users to read tweets organized. If you create a private list, you are the only one who can see it.

Personal lists are different from protected tweets which are only visible to your Twitter followers.

How to Create a New Twitter List

Create a new Twitter list from Twitter on desktop or in Twitter application is very simple :

You can create up to 1000 lists per Twitter account, and each list can contain up to 5000 accounts.

Twitter on desktop

1. Open Twitter and sign in to your account.

2. Select Lists in the menu bar.

3. If you haven’t created any list yet, select » Create a new list» .

   

4. If you already have a list or lists, select icon » Create a new list» in the upper right corner, which looks like a sheet of paper with a plus sign.

   

5. AT dialog box » Create a new list » Enter a name for your list and add a short description.

6. If you want your list to be private, check the box next to Make private .

   

7. Select Further .

8. Find the people you want to add to your list and then select their name. When you have added everyone you want to the list, select Ready .

   

9. Your new list has been created. Access it from Lists bar menu options.

   

Create Twitter List from iPhone App

1. Open the Twitter app on your iPhone and tap icon his profile .

2. Click Lists .

3. Click » Create a new list» or icon » Create List » . Enter a name and description for your list and enable Private, if you want a personal list.

4. Select Create .

   

5. Search Twitter for the accounts you want to add to this list and click » Add» .

6. Select Ready, when you’re done adding members. Your list has been created and is available from menu Lists .

Create a Twitter List from Android App

1. In the top menu, click either icon navigation menu or your icon profile .

2. Click lists, and then click new list icon .

3. Enter a name for your list and add a short description.

4. Check the box next to item «Private», if you want a personal list.

5. Click Save .

Add or remove accounts on your list

From a computer

1. Go to the profile of the account you want to add to the list, and then select three dots (Additionally).

2. Select Add or remove from lists .

   

3. A pop-up window will appear displaying all your lists. Check the boxes next to the lists you want to add the account to, or uncheck the boxes next to the lists you want to remove the account from, and then select Save . (In this example, we are adding an account.)

   

4. Go to tab Lists select the desired list, and then select List of participants . You will see the newly added account in the list, or you can verify that the account has been deleted.

   

From the iPhone app

1. Press icon his profile .

2. Click lists, and then click on the list you want to edit.

3. Click » Participants, and then three dots (more).

4. Click on the accounts you want to add or uncheck the accounts you want to remove from the list.

From the Android App

1. Press three dots (More icon) in the profile of the account you want to add.

2. Select Add to the list .

3. A pop-up window will appear displaying the lists you created. Check the box next to the lists you want to add the account to, or uncheck the box next to the list you want to remove the account from.
