There are a lot of «bad» sites on the Internet — you know, things you wouldn’t want your kids to watch. The problem is that it’s hard to keep track of what kids are doing online. The good news is that you can easily block inappropriate websites with Google Wifi.

Before we get into how to do this, let’s first talk about what you should expect. Most importantly, this is not a super-granular site blocking setup. Instead, it uses Google Safe Search to block that is, in other words, «explicit sites.»: Porn. He blocks porn.

It should be noted that it clearly states that he not blocks «violent or illegal content». Therefore, in this regard, you will have to use your own discretion to protect the little Whale from the villains on the network. But at least he can’t watch porn!

You need to install the family label before you start. Instead of just broadly blocking all porn on the entire network, it only allows it to be blocked on specific machines, as the site blocking feature is specifically managed with tags. The good news is that we also have a guide to setting up family labels, so you can check it out now.

With that out of the way, let’s get started.

First launch the Google Wifi app and then go to the last tab.

From there, tap on the «Family Wi-Fi» option.

On the Family Wi-Fi page, tap the Site Block option.

All the shortcuts you have created are shown here and you can turn each one on or off — it’s very simple. From there, Google Safe Search will take over so kids can’t look at something they shouldn’t.

Looks good, Google. 👍
