The Spotify sleep timer lets you make sure the music app turns off when you fall asleep. Android phones do not have a universal sleep timer, so the ability to turn it on via music app Spotify is a handy resource.
Reasons to Enable Spotify Sleep Timer
Any time you open the Spotify app and turn on a soft or relaxing playlist in the evening, you can also turn on the sleep timer, just in case.
Making sure the music stops after you’ve fallen asleep isn’t just for personal well-being, so noise won’t wake you up in the middle of the night. There are several reasons why it would be a good idea to add a timer when listening to Spotify at night, including:
- Saving battery life
- Data Usage Prevention
- Sleep tight all night
By default, Spotify will continue to play music after your current playlist ends. Using the sleep timer will limit the noise to a certain period of time.
How to Set Spotify Sleep Timer on Android
While the sleep timer is clearly meant to be used while sleeping, it can be used to stop Spotify music for any occasion. Here’s how you turn it on.
Spotify added its sleep timer to music in 2019, but its Android sleep timer worked before for Spotify podcasts and can still be used when listening to your favorite show at night.

You will see a confirmation and then return to the track you are currently listening to.
How to turn off the Spotify sleep timer
Once you have enabled the Spotify sleep timer, you can change the duration or turn it off completely. This can be done in the same way as the setting, and the application will not be able to turn off the music or stop it after another time.
