Positioning most security cameras takes some time and a bit of trial and error to get them set up correctly. However, Netgear has added some features that make it much easier to install Arlo cameras.

It’s not too hard to get the perfect security camera angle; You have to make a guess and then watch the live video to see how well you did your job. If you were a little off, you would make some adjustments.
However, adjusting the motion sensitivity is probably the most painstaking process, as it may take several attempts to get it even remotely where you want it. However, Netgear Arlo cameras have features in the app that make it much easier to install and position the cameras.
First, find the perfect place to mount your camera
Before we dive into the positioning features in the Arlo app, the camera itself needs to be installed (obviously).
Only you can have the best opinion when it comes to finding the best place to install an Arlo camera, as every home is different. However, Netgear does offer some of its own offerings, such as mounting the camera high and tilting it down a bit.
You can also just mount it on a shelf as the chamber has a flat bottom. Just make sure the shelf isn’t too high because you end up with more ceiling in the frame and not important bits.
Use the Position Mode app
Arlo has a feature exclusively for camera positioning to help achieve the best possible viewing angle without friction. Position mode, as it’s called, intentionally lowers the quality of the video stream to reduce latency, so when you move the camera to position it, you’ll see a live view on the app.
To access this feature, open the Arlo app on your phone and tap the Settings tab in the bottom right corner.
