Raspberry Pi incredibly helpful. In less than one night in the city, you can get a microcomputer. Imagine telling this to someone 20 years ago!

Raspbian, the OS that most people usually install on their Pi devices, comes with just about everything you might need to get the most out of the device. Of course, this stuff takes up space, so if you don’t (or don’t) need LibreOffice, it’s worth wolfram, minecraft or Sonic, you can free up about 1 GB of space by deleting them !

LibreOffice is about 250MB and Wolfram is 650MB, so getting rid of them can make a big difference if you’re using a smaller SD card. All you have to do is open a terminal window. and enter the following command:

sudo apt-get purge wolfram-engine
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove

To remove other applications, replace wolfram-engine on the libreoffice* , minecraft-pi or sonic-pi .

If you really don’t want space on your Pi, you should consider installing Raspbian Lite as it doesn’t include any advanced features and will only help you master the bare essentials!

That helped? Any other tips on how to free up space on your Raspberry Pi? Write to us in the comments!
