This may be the case if the app displays advertisements in the form of notifications that do not create a clear connection between the app and the notification. To turn off notifications in this case, you need to wait until one of the offending notifications appears. When a notification appears, do the following:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the drop-down notification shade.

  2. Press and hold the notification you want to turn off.

  3. While still holding, swipe left slightly, but not far enough to dismiss the notification.
