PowerPoint can display an image when you hover your mouse over an image thumbnail. This allows you to keep a nice, clean slide as well as show your audience more information whenever you want.
How to open a larger image when you hover over an icon
In this example, we have four thumbnails and we want to set up a hover effect that shows a larger image popup when hovering over each of the thumbnails.
First, on a new slide, insert an image thumbnail by choosing Insert > Images. A thumbnail image is any small image that you want to use as a thumbnail on your slide, not a special image.
Here is an example of our slide with four thumbnails.
Next, you will need to add a new slide for each of the large image popups. Right-click the thumbnail of the first slide and select New Slide. Repeat this step for any additional slides needed for each of your large images.
In this example, we have added four new slides.
Next, you’ll create the first popup. On slide 2, delete any placeholders that were added when you inserted the new slide. To remove the placeholder, right-click the edge of the placeholder and select Cut. You can also select a placeholder and press the Delete key.
