Text expansion is an incredibly useful way to save a lot of time. but it doesn’t have to be limited to your desktop. If you’re not familiar with this, text expansion allows you to enter short phrases that are automatically replaced with longer ones.

On Android, you can get started with text expansion with Texpand . The setup is as easy as can be — just tap the plus button in the bottom right corner (as with other Material Design apps) and select the label and its full phrase. For example, you can enter «@@» as a shortcut for your email address, or «#cell» for your mobile phone number.

You can also set several options, including if you want the phrase to expand within words or just by itself. Texpand also has a popup when you start typing something close to a trigger phrase, so you don’t have to remember them exactly. You can exclude certain applications from text disclosure if you wish.

You can also admire the dynamic values. When creating a new phrase, instead of «day» always being adjusted to «Tuesday» for example, you can use a dynamic phrase that inserts the current date. Options include day, month, year, or hour, as well as your clipboard. Having a shortcut like «#pst» for automatic insertion can be useful.

The free version of Texpand allows you to save up to 10 phrases. If you need more, the Pro version costs $3 and allows you to use an unlimited number of phrases when importing words from your personal dictionary. Need a text extension on your Mac or iOS device? Try using TextExpander.
