Amazon is removing lock screen ads from its exclusive Prime phones. The update will remove ads from mobile phones that are already freely available, while all new devices sold will be ad-free on the lock screen from day one. Unfortunately, this means that the price of Prime-exclusive phones could go up.
In 2016, Amazon launched the Prime Exclusive Phones program. This allowed Prime subscribers to subscribe to to buy selected Android phones at a discounted price in exchange for installing Amazon apps on devices and displaying ads on the lock screen. However, the latter is now coming to an end.

Amazon launched a Prime Exclusive Phones program with two phones; Motorola Moto G and BLU R1 HD. However, it has since expanded to include many more mobile phones, and the current lineup includes phones from Nokia, LG, and others. All of which are available at a discount.
So far, all phones sold through this program have been filled with lock screen ads and pre-installed Amazon apps. However, as long as Amazon apps — like Prime Video and Prime Music — remain, lock-screen ads disappear from both new and old phones.
