It’s not very obvious how to use the clipboard on Android phones but once you understand how the Android clipboard works, it becomes a lot easier.

Using the clipboard on an Android phone is as easy as copy and paste . Highlight the text in the text box and press and hold to select » Copy» . Then you can long press any other empty box to select Insert and paste the copied text from the clipboard.

Where is the clipboard located on an Android phone?

When you save text to the clipboard on your Android, the information is stored in the RAM of the clipboard service. On standard Android phones, there is no place on your phone where you can see this information. On Samsung phones, the clipboard history is stored in a file in the /data/Clipboard directory.

However, even on a Samsung phone, this file is not available without rooting the phone. But you can still access your clipboard history on any android phone with clipboard manager apps.

If you are using Android which saves the clipboard in the system folder, you can view the file using Minimal ADB and Fastboot . However, since the clipboard folder is the root folder and only accessible with root access, it’s likely that even if you see the file with ADB, you won’t be able to open it.

Using the Clipper Manager

The easiest way to access clipboard history is to use a clipboard manager app. Clipper Clipboard Manager is one of the easiest clipboard managers to use. However, there are plenty available on Google Play to choose from.

  1. Login to Google Play and install Clipper Clipboard Manager app .

  2. When you launch the Clipboard Manager when you long press and copy text to save it to the clipboard, you will see it in the clipboard log inside the application.

  4. Without a clipboard manager like Clipper, you would only have access to the last item you copied to the clipboard. But the clipboard manager gives you access to your clipboard history, so you can use whatever you recently saved there.

How to Clear the Android Clipboard

If you are copying and pasting sensitive information such as passwords, the last thing you want is for that information to be stored on your phone’s memory.

From a security standpoint, it makes sense to delete clipboard sensitive items when you’re done with them.

If you’re using the Clipper Clipboard Manager, you’ll notice that when you select the three dots to the right of the selection, there is option Delete . You can use this to clear those clipboard items.

Another solution is to enable and use gboard keyboard, which is natively available on new Android phones. If it is not available to you, you can install gboard on google play .

  1. Open the messaging app on your Android and tap symbol + to the left of the text field. Then select icon keyboards . When the keyboard appears, select symbol > at the top of the keyboard. Here you can click the clipboard icon to open the Android clipboard.
